GDPR outlines the principles for businesses for processing personal data

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) outlines the principles under which businesses can process personal data and strengthens the protection and rights afforded to individuals. Businesses are required to implement appropriate technical and organisational measures that ensure and demonstrate that they comply with the GDPR. In the Netherlands the deadline for implementation of GDPR was 25 May 2018.

Non compliance leads to fines

When a company does not comply with the regulation than the maximum fine is either 20 million euros or 4% of the annual worldwide turnover, where the highest variant applies.
